Well it’s hard to believe but my trip will be starting soon. It’s especially hard to believe because there’s so much still up in the air.

But then again, that was the point! I have my one way ticket to Glasgow, leaving 9/22 and arriving 9/23. I have my first airbnb reserved in Portree, which is on the Isle of Skye. And I have been trying to figure out the best way to get from Glasgow to Portree — I know there’s a Scottish citylink bus, which picks me up from the airport and gets to Portree in 7 hours — all fine and this gives me a chance to rest before starting any sightseeing. However, I looked into it more and it makes 81 stops!!??? On the positive side, I found an article saying all the coach buses are new, well-equipped, and the route (which goes through Loch Lomond and highlands) was voted the most scenic bus route in Scotland. One does wonder, however, what the competition is for Scottish scenic bus routes — looks like I’m going to find out!

Other than this, my big take away is how much time researching all this stuff can take. Transportation, lodging, money, language, sites??!!! But it’s part of the adventure since I absolutely have more time than money so it’s definitely going to be a big and continuing aspect of my travel saga.
